Kingdom of Aeatos

The Kingdom of Aeatos is the dominant political entity of southern Throivar, occupying the fertile river valleys and coastal lowlands south of the central mountain range. Its capital is Treatos. Aeatos takes its name from the Traic administrative tongue — Ae (clipped from Ael, water) plus -atos (the imperial suffix for a domain or seat of authority) — meaning the water-domain. It is a fitting name for a kingdom born out of river valleys and shaped by an empire that ran on written records and trade routes. Before the Traic arrived, this same territory was known to the Throikyn as Aelath — the water-land. The kingdom's Traic name is older than the kingdom itself; the empire named the province before its people named themselves.
