Aelkyn

The Aelkyn are the southern branch of the Throikyn, who drifted into the river valleys and coastal lowlands of Aelath over generations. Ael (water, river, flowing) plus -kyn (people, folk). Their sedentary life made them vulnerable to Traic conquest, and they were absorbed — not exterminated. Traic administrators co-opted Aelkyn elites, Traic roads connected Aelkyn towns, and Traic Latin crept into their speech. When the empire collapsed, the Aelkyn were left with Traic institutions and a half-Traicized culture that eventually became the Kingdom of Aeatos. They are the dominant people of southern Throivar today.
